June Race Preview

LETS RACE!

June is the best time of the year to get out there and run. Its not quite 90 and super humid just yet, days are longer and we're loving it! This blog post highlights a few great events that take place during the month of June. 

Bank Newport 10 Miler

One of the prettiest places on the planet is host to a lovely 10 mile run this month. There is a reason Newport is filled with Mansions and thats cause its beautiful! You'll spend most of this 10 mile run running along the oceanfront, start and end at lovely Fort Adams and run past those mansions on your way to a great time. Its a challenging course as there are a few ups and downs, but you'll forget about that when you're checking out those panoramic ocean views! Paytons Pace 5k

Need a race to run on the third that maybe isn't 10 miles? Well then my friend you're in luck, the Paytons Pace 5k is a great little run in another seaside town for a great cause. This race takes place in Jamestown, starts and ends in Fort Getty and has some awesome post race food. This is one of those awesome local races with a very cool community feel to it. It may not be the largest event but you're sure to have a blast. The course is pretty quick too! This race takes place on June 3rd and you can register via the link below. 

Gaspee Day 5k

We love the Gaspee Day 5k here at the Rhode. Its another awesome local event that gets quite the turnout. The fact that there is an incredible parade that follows this 5k ensures that you'll have a huge crowd cheering you on! It's got an awesome post race atmosphere and you're sure to have a blast. The course for the Gaspee 5k is a little tricky. Its a very simple out and back but is very much down hill heading out and up hill coming back, be sure to pace yourself on the way out. You may be cursing me for suggesting it while you're grinding those hills out, but you'll be pumped you took part once you cross that finish line! Will Speck 5k

What better way to spend Fathers day than cranking out a fun 5k through Western Cranston? I can't think of one! The Will Speck 5k has been taking place for 15 years and for good reason. The T-shirts are always one of my favorites, I think because they're so simple. The course is also super fun as you'll run a bit through Meshanticut Park and finish on the track! If you stick around after the run too there are a ton of raffle prizes. This race takes place June 17th and you can register below.

Independence Rhode Race Half Marathon

One of our favorite races takes place in one of our favorite places! Celebrate the Independence of the country at Independence Park in Bristol. This is the lovely park at the end of the East Bay bike path, if you've ever rode or run it. This is another well organized race from the folks at Rhode Races (we do love that name) and it winds its way through main street of Bristol and will take you through the staggeringly beautiful Colt State Park. You'll be sucking wind around mile 7 but it won't be from the run, the views will take your breath away...sorry about that...that was corny. Anyway! This run takes place on June 30th and you can take part by registering via the link below.
