A LETTER TO YOU

Dear Rhode Runners,

This week I wanted to take a few minutes to get a little personal with you.

Last year, a small group of Run Club Pacers and I took our club to a new level of service to you and to the rest of our community. This is something that I’ve been very proud of! Through hard work and by leveraging every last resource we had, we worked to bring you the best run club experience we could provide, and in doing so, we created the best running club around!!

When I was brought on board early last year, I was asked to give this position of Head Coach a year, and then we would reassess. At the beginning of this year there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to stay on, and to continue to build upon what we had created and all the things we had achieved together. I had some big plans and I was feeling very ambitious, inspired by your progress as runners, your level of enthusiasm and your commitment to this club. The best days were truly run club days, and it was a joy to watch you get fitter, stronger and faster!!

However, as it goes sometimes, the ownership and I couldn’t come to a mutually agreeable business arrangement this year, so it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to step down as Head Coach, in order to grow my private coaching business and to pursue other professional opportunities.

This is a see you later, not a goodbye! I will still be around, and I will still attend as many of the group runs as I can. Once a part of a family, always a part of a family. We are all in this running thing together and that is a bond that will never be broken. We all have common dreams, common hopes and common aspirations and we are all runners, so let’s continue to build each other up!

This experience has undoubtedly changed me, and I hope that it has changed you too. As a Coach I’ve witnessed just how powerful this gift of running is and how it can literally change lives, and that is infinitely fulfilling! As a team we have demonstrated what is possible, with the right leadership and the right ideas.

I wish you continued success and the best of luck achieving your goals and commitments this year! If I don’t see you in person, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m always a text, an email, a Facebook message or a phone call away. Keep running and keep being amazing!!!

Sincerely,

Coach Mwangi
