Trail Running Vs. Road Running

Trail V Road

Running on the road has it’s benefits and it’s drawbacks, as does running on the trails. There are benefits to both, lets get into a few of them for me.

Trail

  • Softer Surface, reduce injuries on non-technical trails

  • Scenic

  • No traffic to deal with

  • Can be meditative

  • Works different muscle groups

  • Breaks up the monotony of the week

  • Pace goes out the window

Pace Goes Out the Window

Road

  • More consistent footing

  • Great for Tempo Runs or Speed Work

  • Typically you can run a bit faster

  • Can also be meditative because you get into a nice rhythm

  • Easier to navigate
